I am keeping busy with art - online shows, social media and video posts from the past. Everyone I know is getting busy with live videos and more and more online content. I am trying not to overload, but I really appreciate the community being built thanks to the internet. Untitled Abstract by Mueen Akhtar

First I must tell you about a unique opportunity that came my way. Mueen Akhtar from the Bundelkhand Art Society in Jhansi, India, contacted me about taking part in the inaugural online art exhibit for that organization. Of course, I was thrilled to do so and double-honored when I found I was one of only two international artists asked to participate. The show just opened on Wednesday and is a success so far with many views and good reviews. Please make sure to View show online and also View video about show.

Please take a look when you have a chance. It's a nice collection and I think my work fits in well with the style and color, etc. Mueen (who's name is suspiciously similar to Maureen) is an artist as well. His abstract painting is featured as the face of the show and you can see it above. If you did deeper into his instagram profile, you'll see some wonderful paintings of airplanes.

Here's a very new painting newly entitled Blue Sanskrit. Similar to my red roses painting of a similar spiral strain, this one features blue.

I am always showing you shots of my studio, so you may have a good idea about my technique, but did you know the history behind it? I must say these writings are enlightening to me as well. It was great to trace the progression of my work and how painting led to printmaking which led to extreme mixed media which led back to paper. "Brutus and Me" at Girlie Art Show

Girlie was an art movement in Detroit in the late 1990's/early 2000's. I was a part of it along with many young women artists in the Detroit metro area. We staged a large exhibit in an empty commercial space in downtown Detroit. My friend and neighbor and multimedia artist Julie Meitz was featured in the show. She also walked through filming the show while it was up. You can see that video here.

Julie, who lives in Lyon, France now, must have some free time on her hands because she is attempting to archive her old footage - big job! Meanwhile, I cannot stress how great her art is and was. She is known for her video art, video jockeying, audio-visual remixing, video mapping, art installations, new media, and filmmaking - see her website. She provided live video installations during many a dance or art party in that bygone era.

Oh, and "Brutus and Me" depicted above, is one of my paintings in the show. Brutus was a Great Dane I spent a lot of time with while acting as house painter for the local K-mart mansion as my day job.
